A Dream Come True...26 Years Late

Last night I ate, sat with, laughed with, talked to, one of my favorite child stars...at MY house! She was in my home...eating my food, off my plates, using my silverware. She was so cool and funny! And she was my favorite actress, on one of my favorite shows back in 1981. I was 8 years old, and chances are, if you were around my age, you'll know who I'm talking about. Samantha from Gimme a Break! Laura Jill Miller. Turns out, she knows Tim, and we reconnected in an odd way. I met her a couple of months ago at a party one of my friends from church was throwing. (She lived in his apartment building.) I was a bit star struck, funny enough, when I met her, but throughout the evening, I began to talk to her, and we figured out she knew Tim. She lived with 2 of his closest friends when she moved to LA from New York (after Law School). Well, we had an evening of re-connecting with old friends, and it was a blast! Her boyfriend is a Broadway actor and had Emma totally star struck as well, revising his role as Gaston for her. It was a riot!

It was an awesome, awesome evening.

Laura works as a voice over talent now, and chances are if you have a kid under 5, you'll have heard a LOT of her. Emma's favorite: Clifford's "puppy" voice.

I don't get star struck often...living in LA, you sort of get used to it (although I did make an ASS of myself when I met John C. Riley, but that's another story...and if I met Meryl Streep I think I might freak out a bit), but it was so, so cool hanging out with someone you idolized back when you were a kid, and it was even better because she is just a very cool person.
