And We're Off...

Tomorrow we leave for a week long visit to St. Louis. We haven't seen Tim's side of the family in awhile, so this is a bit overdue. Plus, his Mom isn't doing that well, and it's important we get as many visits as possible before she passes. Although we'll be flying with one kid who's battling Step (poor Emma feels like CRAP!) and Theo is 19 months, and that's always a FANTASTIC age to travel on a lap for 3.5 hours. Oh Joy! I can hardly wait! Ughh.... Plus, I'm praying Theo does not catch Strep from Emma, but I"m not holding my breath, seeing as he's sipped from her sippy cup about 10 times today. And both kids have been exposed to the Chicken Pox, although Emma is vacinated, Theo is not. That would be so much fun, wouldn't it? Battling strep AND the chicken pox while staying in a one room apartment at an Independent Living facility? Woo Hoo! Oh, and it's supposed to rain our entire stay, which is a bummer, but I do hope we get to the Zoo at least once.

Disney was a huge success...once we got some tylenol for Emma. Poor kid. About 40 minutes after we got there, she spiked a raging fever and a killer headache. She tried so hard to play though the pain, but was miserable until we wised up and bought some Tylenol...3 hours AFTER we got there. But, she is still talking to anyone who will listen about meeting the princesses (which she had to stand in a 2 hour line to do, and still didnt' meet Snow White, or Cinderella because of the "shift change")( you only meet 3 princesses at a time, and by the time you go back and stand in line again, you're back to the first 3 that you already saw. She was cool with it, though, because she saw them walking by, and they waved and smiled at her. Plus she did get to meet Ariel, so that made up for missing Cinderella)

They've totally change Pirates of the Carribean, so it's much more spooky, and ties into the movie. Emma said, "This ride is not for little people like me. It's too scary". And she did NOT like the Snow White ride either.

The funniest thing was we didn't tell her where we were going that day, and as we drove up the ramp inside the parking garage, she asked, "Is this a Target?" (with the tone of "are you teasing me?") It was so cute! And a bit scary. My kid does know her Target parking garages. She finally guessed where we were, and exclaimed, "This is so WONDERFUL! This is the BEST Mickey Mouse adventure EVER! This is so BEAUTIFUL! Daddy, you are the BEST!" Nope, I did not get any credit for this adventure.

Our last visit to Disneyland, Emma was about 20 months old. We had free tickets, so I went with Emma and my friend, Tracey and her son. We only rode 3 rides, "Small World" being one of them. Anyway, Emma asked when we were there yesterday where the smiling clock was. She wanted to see the smiling clock and the kids with the hippo. (I had no idea what she was talking about) We were walking by the "Small World" castle and she said, "There's the smiling clock! I want to go on THAT ride and see the hippo and the kids!" Yes, folks, that was more than 2 years ago, and she still remembered it. One scary memory that kid has...

I'd better go finish packing. Thankfully, our flight doesn't leave until 12:00, so we don't have to rush around in the morning.
