Me? Maturing? Could Be...

Tonight was my first "Casting Director Night" at the acting studio where I take class. It was really fun. (Next week, I meet with the guy who does Friday Night Lights, Private Practice and another show I'm forgetting at the moment) Anyway, what surprised me was my complete lack of nerves. 5 years ago, something like this would have sent me in a tailspin of nervous energy. I'm sure I would have thrown up. I used to get nervous at every audition, and even calling my agent, the person working FOR ME, would make me so nervous I'd feel like getting sick. But now? Not nervous at all. Excited for the opportunity to perform. I had this feeling of "This is me. These are my choices. I'm confident in my choices. If you don't like them, that's your problem, because I rock!"

I know that Tim deserves a lot of credit for my confidence. Asshole husband #1 had pretty much destroyed my self esteem, so it's been a long rebuilding process. And also, a big thanks to Amie who never gave up on me, and who always encouraged me to get back into the game. I am so thankful to her for introducing me to this studio. It's such an amazing group of people. Talented actors who are incredibly supportive and very "outwardly focused"... a true rareity in Hollywood.

So now that I have my new headshots, my discovered courage... I'd say I'm ready to get out there and work!
