I feel sick

So, I've been attempting to educate myself on Mrs. Palin of Alaska, and oh goodness... I just can't believe that there are people out there that think she is qualified to run our Country (and chances are, she'll be in charge. McCain is one tough cookie, but he IS 72 and lived an incredibly brutal life during Vietnam). Good looks (and she is attractive) isn't going to fix the mess we're in. She just got her passport this year. (need I compare Biden's experience in Foreign Relations?) So she was Mayor of a town of less than 7,000, and Governor of Alaska. Not California, or New York, or Illinois, but ALASKA. Not a bragging right in my book.

Should I like her because she's anti-abortion, anti-gay, and a card carrying NRA member? Well, since I'm none of those mentioned, I guess I can't.

I cannot tell you how irate I get when I hear Fox News say, "A vote for Obama is a vote for killing babies." Yet, these same anti-abortionists (well, I can only speak for the several anti-abortionists I know) say, it's okay if your a victim of rape, or incest to have an abortion. Um... okay... so those fetuses aren't as "special"? Now, let me clarify, I'm not a fan of abortion for birth control, and I think 12 weeks is ample enough time to decide "what you're going to do if you get pregnant", but for me, it's legal or it's not. I would not have aborted my baby with Downs Syndrome either, does that make me qualified?

I was Vice President and Parliamentarian of my High School, and president of the Alabama Northwest Florida Youth Group Association of my church for 2 years straight. I served as a Student Council representative from 5th grade on. I have been an active member in several National Organizations, oh, and I'm Guard for my P.E.O. chapter. Did that prepare ME for the Vice Presidency of the United States of America? Because, apparently Palin feels that playing basketball for her high school has made her ready for this challenge. (that was a quote from the RPN a few minutes ago)

True, I do not have 5 kids, one with special needs. (Hats off to her for that, and I'm serious about that. I can barely handle my 2 kids!) Nor have I ever won a beauty pageant. (Did I mention that I think she's really pretty?)

Am I missing something? Do we really think she's capable of solving the financial crisis our country is in, or healing our alliances with, oh... just about every F'in country in the world?

I find it insulting (although I was never a Hillary fan) that it is implied that just because Palin is a woman, she deserves our vote. No, Hillary was actually pretty darn qualified.

I don't claim to believe Obama and Biden are perfect. No one is perfect. But to say Palin is more qualified? Seriously, folks. Come on.

And DON'T EVEN get me started on McCain. I'm talking the McCain of 2008, not the McCain of 2000. I wouldn't have minded his being in office.

I know I've pissed off all my Republican friends out there, but I know y'all love me anyway.

No, Kelley, you haven't pissed me off. I don't agree with you, but it doesn't make me angry. Once emotion gets injected into the debate, communication and learning stop.

But, with as much Fox News as I watch, I have never seen a News Reporter (I am not talking about an opinion show - I am talking about a news reporter) say anything about a vote for Obama being a vote for baby killing. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. And, I could certainly come up with some quotes from your boy Keith to prove that point, too.

I'm sure if one exists, however, the YouTube link will be sent to me.

Anyway, I'll be sure to send you a pic of Carolyn in her pink onsie that says "I have a girl crush on Sarah Palin". Just for a laugh.

The "baby killing" quote was from the night of Sarah Palin's speech... I can't remember the name of the woman who said it, but it was during the RNC coverage. I so need to get Theo a "boy crush on Obama" shirt. The boy is in love with him. He hears his name on T.V. and Radio and jumps and says, "Mommy! Where's Bahck Bahma?" Carolyn is pretty darn cute in anything... even a Sarah Palin shirt. :-)
