Sickened

Well, for the 2 of you who don't watch television... this week my church made national headlines. And the reason sickens me, and is a blatant reminder of the BAD side of Hollywood. Fuckin' Paparazzi!

Britney Spears sought refuge from the paparazzi by running into The Little Brown Church, which is our satellite church. It's doors are kept open 24 hours a day. Bill was there, luckily (Bill is our head music minister, and has also served as our interim minister). Anyway, Michael (our children's director and Bill's partner) called Bill to tell him to get up front to the chapel because all hell was breaking loose. Bill ran into the sanctuary, and found Paparazzi swarming everywhere... and what's worse, they were fighting over the PRAYER BOX! Britney had written something on a prayer request card and placed it into our prayer box, and the hundreds of paparazzi were fighting to get it open. Apparently, it was a fairly ugly scene, which I'm sure you can imagine. Bill managed to grab the box and clear them out of there. Whatever she wrote (along with the other requests written by others) is now locked in a safe for our Pastor to read and pray over when he returns from burying his Mother.

There have been countless calls for interviews, interviews have been given, and what really sickens me is that our church has been offered A LOT of money to hand over the card that Britney put in the box.

She's obviously a spiritual and mental mess, making horrendous choices, and I just pray that she can find some healing (in all arenas) so she can be there for her boys.

What is it about our society that is so drawn to other people's fuck-ups and sufferings? Why do we wait for the train wrecks, and sit and stare when they happen? And the joy it brings to some people... to see someone famous destroyed... that so saddens me. We forget these people are human beings, like us. Making mistakes. Needing help. Needing prayer.

Oh, that has to be one of the lowest things I have ever read. I hope the prayer was that God take the lives of all the paparazzi - in ways that hurt like hell.
