Christmas Day

I think we're about the only parents with young kids who get to sleep in on Christmas! Emma totally gets it and was VERY excited about this morning...leaving cookies for Santa, etc. They woke up at 8:30. We came out into the living room (that's where Santa leaves HIS gifts) and they saw the few gifts Santa left and had no interest in the multitude of gifts waiting for them beneath the tree in the playroom. We asked, "Hey, do y'all want to go open the rest of your gifts?" "No. We want to eat." "Okaaayyy..."

We finally made our way into the playroom to open the rest of the Christmas gifts. It was great... although now the kids have more toys than 3 small countries... Tim bought me my first ring. (As some of you might know, our Ex spouses bought our wedding rings. I had Scott's and Tim had his, so we traded them in to buy ours) Anyway, it's a very beautiful saphire and diamond ring. I tell ya...those writers should just go on strike every year!

Emma told us at the end of the night that "She wanted to live this day all over again." And I asked Theo what his favorite part about today was and he said, "Mickey Mouse" (Santa gave Theo this Mickey Mouse that plays the theme song from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and also Mickey's plane that he can "fly" around on)

My favorite part of the day aside from watching the joy on Emma and Theo's faces as they opened gifts was playing games with Emma. I so LOVE that she's at the age where we can sit down and play games with her. We played Old Maid, Go Fish, Crazy 8's, and 3 rounds of Memory.

I miss not being around all our relatives at Christmas, but it was sort of nice just being only the 4 of us.
