Oh Hail Canada!

Can I just tell you how sick I am of the medical insurance situation! ARGHHH!!! Basically, anytime we got to the doctor we end up battling with our insurance company. Anyway, I got really sick several months ago and had to go to the emergency room. Well, I was smart about it. Tim had gone about 2 months before that and we found out when we got the $2000 bill that that particular hospital was not contracted with our insurance carrier. So, I went onto the website, as the claims department instructed me to do, and looked up the hospitals in our area that were contracted with our insurance company. Thus, I ended up going to a hospital on our list (one that I don't particularly care for, but that's for another blog).

I just got another bill from that visit, and it was for, well, a lot. I called the claims departmet to find out why it was so high, and why more was not covered. Apparantly, the doctor I saw was NOT contracted with our insurance company. WHAT?! So, note to self, when in an emergency situation, go to a hospital on our assigned list, but before being assigned a doctor, make sure to get one contracted through our insurance carrier.

I mean GEESH! What total B.S.! Socialized medicine...even with all your faults...here I come!
