Still Here
I haven't felt much like Blogging lately. I think I'm going through the "Winter Blues" early. The WGA Strike continues, and although it means Tim's paycheck will soon be coming from the Unemployment Office, we totally support their strike. I mean, hell, without the writers NO ONE in this industry would work...ya think the producers might be just a little less greedy and give 'em the .3 they're hoping for. I don't know many folks who would appreciate someone else selling their product and not giving them, the creator, a cut. (I'm referring to internet downloading. The Writer's don't get residuals) Anyway....
Theo is doing okay. This Asthma attack was shorter lived than the last, possibly due to the fact he's now on Singulair once a day. We're taking him to an Asthma and Allergy specialist tomorrow. I keep hearing stories of kids who grew out of this "illness induced Asthma" and who had no lasting effects from it, or the steriods they had to take, so that's what I hope for Theo. He did go in on Tuesday for his 2 year appointment. He's 70% Weight and 80% Height. He's a total future Peyton Manning....if I let him play football, that is. We also discovered that he had a perferated eardrum. We usally have no idea of an ear infection until this happens. Geesh?! A little "Ouch, Mommy (tug on ear)" would be nice. But he's doing great. He LOVES learning sign language...he knows so many words now, it's awesome. And his favorite thing to do, still, is jumping.
Emma is a funny kid. SOOOOOO dramatic. I have no idea where she gets it. Tim and I are so totally screwed. I was hoping she'd be the first smart person in our family and NOT go into the entertainment industry, but alas, we are so screwed. She's playing Mary in our church's Christmas musical. She'll tell you she's playing "Dancing, Mary"...and she does dance through her scenes. Funny stuff. She was off book in a matter of 2 minutes, and asks everyday to go to rehearsal. Ughhh...
Her public school pre-school experience is going better. I was ready to pull her out, but since Monday she's telling me how much she loves it, and can't wait to go back. (We can't afford private school, so I put her in this public school program to transition her from being 1 of 3 kids to 1 of 23 kids. I think it's totally crazy to have that many 4 year olds in one class. Not to mention when you add 4 who can't speak English and 5 who have varrying forms of behavioral problems or Autism. I think mainstreaming (which I totally support) 5 kids in one class is a bit overwhelming for everyone, but then again, I'm not an expert in that arena. Emma has been really bothered by this one particular boy. He did something (I haven't been able to get a straight answer) to her which has her upset and scared of him. I've tried to use this as a teaching experience. Trying to help her understand that his brain works differently than hers and he really needs extra patience from her, and that if she's having a problem, his "shadow" (I can't remember her name now) is there to help them work things out if they need help. I'm not sure at 4 she gets it, but he hasn't been there in 4 days, so that may be the miraculous recovery from the acting out and meltdowns when she hears she has to go to "Stagg".
I don't know the reason things have been easier, I'm just thankful!
I'm still lost. I'm hoping to get another writing project going with Madeleine soon, as we've been tossing around some ideas. Also, I've started up my little song writing hobby and that's actually made a bit of an improvement to my emotional state. Whatever helps, eh?

Hey Kel,
It was great to get to spend some time with You, Tim, and the kids over the last month. I am really worried about how the strike will affect you and everyone else I know in L.A., but I support it as well. Keep at it, see you in a few weeks. Love, Toby
We can't wait to see you again, too! Wish the girls could come. Theo and Emma still ask where "uncle "boby" is. It was great for me and great for them.
