Hold Onto Your Hats Folks

I'm going political. "Tis the Season...

I have been doing extensive research on Non-Partisan websites and online magazine's regarding each Candidate. Over the next several weeks, I will be blogging about their policies, comparing the stance of each candidate. All my information is going to come from Non-Partisan research.

This election is so very important to the future of our Country. It is estimated that 3 seats on the Supreme Court will open up within the next 4 years. I encourage everyone to consider this when going to the polls.

I welcome any rebuttal comments. I will not be voting for McCain/Palin, but I welcome positive comments about these 2 candidates as I fear our future if they are elected. I cannot imagine another 4 months of Republican "leadership", much less 4 years, so if you can do anything to quail my fears, please do.

I will also state my opinions and deductions from my research. I acknowledge that I am reading from a liberal perspective, and will be fairly critical of the conservative stance, so forgive me in advance.

I also think it is careless to only consider Biden and Palin as Vice Presidential candidates only. When researching them, I will be coming from the perspective of are they qualified to be our Nation's President.

I encourage everyone who reads this to read my friend Sue's blog (linked on the right) for the Republican point of view. She is incredibly educated, smart, and does her due diligence as well, so I think you will find both of our opinions interesting.

To get some of my personal opinions out of the way:
McCain: He's too old. He's shown obvious signs of memory loss and early dementia. His temper is well known (I'm sure you've all seen the video footage of him cussing out reporters, dropping F bombs right and left, over simple questions) I look at him and feel sorry for him. I suffer from extreme second-hand embarrassment whenever I hear him speak. He has contradicted himself so many times that it's almost impossible to find out what his policies actually are.

Palin: She, too contradicts herself so often it's impossible to figure out where she really stands on certain policies. She's never been outside of the country (unless you count Mexico and Canada), she left her town of Wasilla in debt, she is absolutely not qualified to be President of our country.

Now that that's out of the way... My first post will be on the following Hot Topic: Abortion.

Palin actually did go to Kuwait in 2007, but that's her only trip out of North America, I believe. She just got her passport last year.

I had forgotten about that trip. Remember it was just to visit the Alaskan soldiers at the base. Also, on the same trip she did visit some soldiers in a hospital and Germany, and also claimed to have visited Ireland, but in actuality, they landed there in order to refuel her plane, which she didn't exit. I love that McCain's camp says she is "more than adequately qualified in Foreign Relations because she's the mother of someone in the Military and leader of Alaskan National Guard (which doen't mean anything, but more on that on my Foreign Policy Blog) Thanks for the correction!

I'm looking forward to reading your upcoming blogs. I'm not totally close-minded. I actually consider myself a liberal conservative if that's possible. I will most likely agree with you whole-heartedly when it come to social issues like abortion rights and gay rights. But I can't hang my political hat on those two issues alone. Obama scares me. I can't shake the feeling that he's nothing more than great speeches and inspiring words. In a crisis, I'm not sure I would want him to be our Commander-in-Chief. I'm listening though, Kelley--curious to see why you are so convinced he's the man for the job.
