A Partisan Rant

So I've been researching the economy for my next "Hot Topic" posting. It's going to take awhile, as there's so much history, and terminology I don't understand. (Which is why I became an actress and not a scholar, but I digress...)

I need to rant. I'm so beyond frustrated with the McCain campaign! And I actually agreed with some of the commentary on Fox News about his "dangerous gamble". (you might even be shocked to learn I agreed with some of what Pat Buchanan had to say last night)

His (McCain's) continual contradictions are exhausting me. Some are not as big of a deal, some blow me away.

Frankly I don't care that he blew off David Letterman. I think it was a stupid move on his part, and he should have said, "Dave, I'm heading over to see Katie Couric instead of being on your show," instead of saying, " I need to cancel so I can fly back to DC a.s.a.p. to save the economy" (I'm not quoting him really, just paraphrasing, in a not too nice of a way, I know)

I do find it rather ridiculous that a week ago, on more than one occasion, he stated "Our economy is fundamentally sound" and "We're (the people) better off now than we were in 2000" (less than a week ago he said this), shall my list continue? He didn't even read the 3 page Bail Out proposal. Then he behaved as he was the prince racing in on his white horse to save our great nation from imminent disaster! Are you kidding me?!

If he did stop his presidential campaign, then why are my friends in other states (we don't get many political commercials out here in LA, that I've noticed) saying they've seen commercials as recently as yesterday?

If the debate doesn't go on tonight, I'm going to be so upset. I want, no I NEED to hear from both candidates right now to see what they would do to fix the mess we're in. I have yet to read from any experts that it is necessary for Obama and McCain to be in DC right now (regarding the Bail Out).

An interesting theory, although I hope it's not true, is that McCain really wants to cancel the debate tonight so that the VP debate would not happen. Palin is still being "protected" from the media. Her interview with Katie Couric was horrible. And if I hear her say one more time she said, "thanks, but no thanks", I'm going to go insane. Does she (well, it's really her advisors) believe that if she says "that" enough times, we'll believe it to be true? Oh, wait, that happened with Iraq, didn't it. Equating the attacks on September 11th as the reason we're in Iraq over and over again did work on a lot of people. This week I had a conversation with a woman who said (now, I'm paraphrasing here) that she supports the war in Iraq because "of what they did on 9/11". I politely reminded her, that actually Osama bin laden was responsible for the attacks on the WTC, not Saddam Hussein, and at the time we went to war in Iraq, Osama bin Laden was not there.

I will not post my next "Hot Topic" until I've been able to be non-partisan. And those of you who are not Obama supporters, will be please to know that I will include information on Obama that doesn't exactly paint him in a perfect light.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Now I'm off to prepare for my audition.
