McCain
I'm finishing up my Positive McCain/Palin essay, and I'm having a hard time. I find policies, bills and statements I totally agree with, only to find that they're from 1999 and that he now no longer supports those issues. Ugh.
And not to harp on this topic, but ya know when McCain said "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" and the Republican supporters said that what he meant by that was that the "American people are strong"....
Well, then, can you explain this?
And by the way, I don't believe we're headed into a recession. I believe the fundamentals of this economy are strong, and I believe they will remain strong.

Does this sound like he's talking about "the People" or "the economy"?

I've always believed him to mean the fundamentals of capitalism, on which our econony is based, and which I do believe are strong. I don't think we need to fix the problems like the housing crisis by completey shifting to ideas that are rooted in socialism. We have been hearing so much about how the economy is a global problem, take a look at how Ireland has responded. Their system appears to be thriving, and many of their policies are similar to the republican plan.
Ireland is thriving in part because of the government's willingness to open the country to immigrants, and now they have a workforce who will do the jobs that others don't want to do... But I digress: How has Ireland responded to the global economic catastrophe in a way similar to the plan of the conservative party in America? And what's the point of comparing apples to oranges anyway?
