Life
Theo had his 15 month check up today. He's 95th % in both height and head size, and 70th% weight. He got two shots, wined for a split second, and was fine. Emma cried because she did not get a shot. She is so weird. (My kids DO NOT take after me in the shot department....)
Emma has been driving me CRAZY! Thank GOD my Mom is coming for a visit. She gets in on the 12th and stays until the 21st!! YAHOO! I need a break! Thankfully, Theo is still easy. He's begining to show a temper, but so far, so good.
And the big news this week....I think I finally know what I'm going to do for a living! I'm considering getting my real estate license. In the So Cal market, if I sold 2 houses a year, I'd make about $40,000 in commission. I've been talking to a couple of successful agents here in town, and it's not as saturated as I thought. We shall see...
BUT the job I'm most excited about is this: I want to be a kid/baby wrangler/on set coach for kids (and babies) for film and commercials. I've looked into it a bit, and there are on set coaches, but mostly for teenagers. No one really knows how to work with the little guys. Tim has lots of connections, and we've been brain storming how to get started...what my business name should be, etc.
I've been thinking about my strengths, and I'm awesome with kids, love working with them (99% of all my jobs have been working with children), and I'm really good at coaching little kids.
My friend, Amie, has been working as a teacher/private coach out here, and she has had me fill in for her when she's had auditions and such. This week, I coached a 5 year old for a film audition. She had JUST gotten the sides, and she had 3 scenes to work on, each about 4 pages long. It was a TOUGH script, too, showing every range of emotion. I worked with her for a couple of hours, was exhausted, but it was so much fun and it really filled a creative void that's been missing in my life. Amie called me the next day and told me the little girl was put on film (which means they liked her) and the feedback was really positive. It was the affirmation I needed.
The more and more I hear about what's going on in the business, the more I realize no one knows how to work with kids. They assume these 5 year olds will behave as if they're 40, and then trying to direct them to get what they (the clients/directors) want? Forget about it.
I think this would be a welcomed business. Now, I just have to figure out how to get it off the ground....
