Christmas

Christmas was a success this year. It's so fun watching the spirit of Christmas come alive through our childs' eyes. We did have to put in a call to Santa (luckily I have his cell phone number) because Emma had been in a 3 day long temper tantrum and I had told her Santa might just not leave her anything with her attitude the way it was. Well, after a chat with Santa, she promised her attitude would be changed...and it was. So, Emma got her "Emma doll" (a.k.a. a knock-off American Girl Doll found on E-Bay which has blonde hair, blue eyes, and wearing a purple dress, which looked a TAD like Emma) and some suprises, and Theo got his teddy bear. Very cute.

The funny thing was, Tim and I were up and showered before both kids. We had to wake them up at about 8:30 to get started on the presents! How many years will we have this luxury?

Tim got me good this year! All I wanted was tickets to see the show "Wicked". I opened one of Tim's gifts to me, and as I pulled out the paper, Tim said, "I'm sorry it's not tickets to the show. (it was a receipt for the soundtrack) The tickets were a lot of money, and I couldn't find seats for less than $150 each that were any good, so I got you the next best thing." I was excited to just have the sound track. Well, I opened the last gift and...yup it was two tickets to the show! They were expensive, and we won't be going until July, but I am so excited! Then, come to find out, one of out good friends at church, Linda Kearns, is in the cast! So we MAY get house seats from her for an earlier show, but we'll see. If not, the seats we have are great, and I am greatfully eating PB&J for the next month to have the money to pay them off!

We were almost done with opening presents, and our tree fell on me and Theo! Luckily, there wasn't too much damage. A few broken ornaments, but that's about it.

Then, Bruce came over to babysit the kids at about 9:00a.m. so that Tim and I could go with a group from our church (and others in the area) called "just people" to the Juvinile Hall. We sang carols to the kids and passed out over 3000 homemade Christmas cards! It was such a moving experience. For most of the kids there, we were the only visitors they would have that day. The rough and tough gand bangers teared up as we sang, shook their hands, placed out palms on the windows of the cells of the kids in lock down. Incredible.

I am so incredibly thankful to be living this life! Five years ago, I felt trapped in a horrible marriage, and really destined to be miserable for the rest of my life. I thank God everyday for my current husband, for giving me the strength to leave an abusive situation, because I sometimes find myself feeling like I'm living the fantasy that I had just been left to dream about during my "other" life with Scott.

The terrible tantrums, and P.I.T.A. days my daughter sometimes challenges me with included. I love, love, love my life with Tim! I am so thankful for him.
