Over the River and Through the Woods...

To OUR house Grandma came....

and it was great! My Mom is leaving tomorrow after a 9 day visit with us. The kids loved it, and so did I! It was so great having an extra set of hands to help with the kids, and I found myself so much calmer. My cousin took her to the Getty Museum, which is great, because my Mother and I with museums do not mesh. I am a browser...I'll stop for a few moments to appreciate when I see something that catches my eye, but my Mom...damn, she'll take an hour to look at 2 paintings. Drives me nuts!) She got to see the Icon exhibit (BORING), and loved every minute of it. We also took her to the set of Medium (where Tim works) and she got to sit in "Video Village" and watch a scene with Patricia and Jåke. She loved it! We sat with the producers at lunch, and she just loved getting to hear them talk shop. It's so cool that we can give folks a different tour of L.A!

Tim and I got away for longer than 24 hours without kids for the first time since Emma's conception. It was HEAVENLY! We went up the coast a bit to Ventura, and stayed at a place on the ocean. It started out a bit exciting...we went to our room to drop our stuff so we could adventure out. Our key wouldn't work the first 4 times, but then it did, and we opened out door to find a necked man who quickly shut the door while yelling "Wrong room!". It was hilarious! We went back to the desk, and they felt so bad (we said it was the guy in room 800 that should get the apology) they bumped us up to a King Suite...2 balconies over looking the Pacific Ocean. It was awesome! We walked around town, went to see "The Queen" (great movie, by the way) and then onto dinner at this Jazz/Martini Italian restaurant Tim had made reservations for. The food was fantastic, and four martinis later....

The only complaint was the bed in the room SUCKED! It was the most uncomfortable bed I had ever slept in in my life. But, we were together, alone, and that made everything okay.

The next day we tooled around town a bit, and stopped in Oxnard so Tim could get a message (I'd had one a week ago, so felt that I wasn't deserving of one).

I hate not having family in town. I know it would help me relax a bit, and it would be so great if Tim and I could just escape for a day together just once every couple of months...but we'll take it when we can get it!

My brother is coming in 2 weeks (I.CAN'T.WAIT!) and then my Dad, and then my cousin, Adam! Then, we'll be off to St. Louis to visit Lydia and then hopefully onto Philly to stay at Camp Berten (my sister-in-law's) where Tim and I can hopefully sneak off to New York, and also to DC to see my friend, Madeleine and her husband and son. It's already a busy scehdule, but I love that we'll be spending lots of time together. It's always scary when the shows go on Hiatus (no income for 3 months), but it's awesome spending so much time together!

Emma starts school full time March 1st, and Theo will be going one day a week for awhile, then 2. I'm going to get back into commercials, and have decided to do the work/research to hopefully launch my business this Fall. WooHoo!
